First - I wasn't sure about the sizing but the mediums turned out to be OK. I'm about 5'8" with well developed thighs and calves. On each piece there is a small white arrow labelled L and R pointing parallel to the top edge. But when on the appropriate leg the arrows point to the rear. Seems strange. But the reason for the middling rating is that they don't stay up very well while riding. Also they are pretty thin so useful only in cool temps (low/mid 40's and up).

Perfect addition to my northern tier trip for those early mornings. Packs down easily and weighs next to nothing. Definitely will be using them in the fall and winter once we get there. ride on ACA!
