Agree with Pat O'Brien (on 8/15/16) about the viewing distance. I have been using the Take-A-Look mirror for several years but was looking for a mirror that mounted on my bike . While mounting was easy and provides a stable image you just can't see very far behind. If the car approaching you has it's lights on it helps to see it but just trying to see a vehicle is difficult. Not sure if I will go back to my original Take-A-Look mirror at this time or stay with the Ultra Light mirror.

I've used many mirrors in the past and I find this one to be one of the best values when one considers price. There are fancier ones and cheaper ones and this one falls in the middle. It has plenty of viewing glass and one of the best things is that it stays in position even through a lot of road vibration. It adjusts very simply and overall it is the simple design that helps this mirror shine above many others. Using it with drop bars with bar ends shifters is not ideal as mentioned in another review but it worked good enough for my needs. Can't really beat it for the price.

I have been using this mirror on drop bars with no problems. I had anticipated difficulties adjusting to the mirrors position, but it was adjustable enough to easily give me a good rear view. The mirror adjusts easily, but holds its position over lots of road vibration.

The mirror is well made and very light. The strap mount works well, and the mirror doesn't vibrate much even on rough roads. However, the convex mirror doesn't allow you to see very far behind you. Plus if you mount it on a drop bar without cable grooves or interior cable routing, and you have bar end shifters, the only place you can mount it is below the brake hood with the mirror perpendicular to the ground. This position restricts the view even more. I switched back to a flat mirror that straps onto the brake hood. This allows me a undistorted view far enough behind me to react to the traffic coming. I will give the mirror another try on a flat bar bike.

Very tough Mirror, I keep laying the bike down on the mirror side, it just rotates around, out of harms way, lift bike, readjust, ride on. Nice. Clamps on just about anywhere, and , yeah, its image is not perfect, but, best yet in use! Use vibraTite on small bolt/nut to keep in place.

I bought this mirror for my touring bike (a Surly) and promptly ordered two more for my other bikes. What I like most is the ease in which you install it, the size of the mirror itself and the fact you can mount it wherever it works the best. I hope it lasts forever but the price is such I would purchase another one in a heartbeat.

The only reason I give this mirror 4 stars instead of 5 is that mounting it on my drop bars dictated that the mirror be oriented vertically and it is much more effective for me if it can be horizontal, as on a flat bar pictured in the ACA online store. Regardless, it it light, stable and effective. I rely heavily on it and am not disappointed.

When looking for the right mirror I kept coming back to this product. Glad I chose to buy. Flexibility to install almost anywhere on the bike, allowed me to chose the best option for maximum visibility. The curvature took a little getting used to, but within minutes was very natural.

I love it. It works well on bumpy road keeps providing a clear view of what is behind me. It took me a few tries to figure out where to place it on my recumbent trike. But I have worked it out and will order another one to replace the other miricycle mirror that now is showing blurry view on rough roads.

This is the best mirror I've found for my road bike, but I wish the bar that holds the mirror would be a bit longer since I hit my hand on it often. I also wish they would use a metal pipe clamp type device vs. the plastic since I would like to get it really tight and have it last longer. Other than those concerns, it works very well.

Best rear-view mirror I have owned. Very little vibration, so view is always very clear. Easily readjusted after a fall or when bumped. Can be set horizontally or vertically. Have them on both road bike and mountain bike. Rely on this more than helmet mirror, now.

I needed to use the mirror with the larger end to the left, but it could not be configured that way on my bike. It was difficult to see traffic behind me with the only way I could set it - with the larger end facing right - so it was useless in my configuration - I wound up just purchasing another mirror.

This is the best touring mirror I've owned. I like it so well that I bought one for each of my bikes. The only drawback is that it makes all items smaller. I would prefer a reflector that shows objects just as they are, although now I've gotten used to the smaller images. Mounting and adjusting are easy. I would rate it 5 stars except for the smaller images.

The mirror is small and light, but I had two problems with it. First, it was difficult to mount on my traditional road handle bars without it getting in the way of my hands (a bar-end mount would work better). More importantly, I couldn't see much in the mirror. It's a few feet from my eyes and quite small. I found that a helment-mounted mirror works much better.

Excellent mirror. I've ridden with it for about 500 road miles, and find it great, particularly for a bike where the bar ends are not available - e.g. bar end shifters. It attaches easily to the curved part of drop racing bars. The only complaint is that since the mirror surface is convex, objects are somewhat closer than they appear. Having said that, I quickly compensated. Excellent mirror.

Wide field of vision lets you know whats coming up from behind which is priceless. However as with all convex mirrors you must be able to recognize and understand what you are looking at. Mounted nicely to my drop bars then i clipped the excess and smoothed it out with a Dremel sanding tool. Now i wouldn't ride without it!

I changed my touring bike to "trekking" bars so I don't have bar ends to attach the Blackburn mirrors that I have used for years. I thought this would work because of the attachment with a cable tie. I was able to mount it, but the plastic mirror didn't impress me and I didn't like the curved surface or the shape of the viewing area. The Blackburn mirrors are oval, flat and real glass, so the image is much better, actual size and you can judge distance better. I wondered why this mirror didn't have a sign on it, "Objects in mirror are closer than they look." It only took me a couple hundred feet of riding to realize that I didn't like it. I ended up putting a second stem under the original with a short straight bar. That second bar holds my HB bag on tour, my lights when commuting before sunrise and is where I have put the Blackburn mirror that I like better.

The mirror works great on my Trek 520. It doesn't get in the way, has a large field of view, and very little distortion from vibration. The mounting is simple and secure. I never could get used to a helmet mounted mirror and, IMO, the Ortlieb mirror is the best alternative for bikes with bar-end shifters.

Just got these not long ago, and are on both my bike and my wife's, ready to go. Fitted nicely as a drop-down mirror on our expedition bars, even on my double-wrapped bars. Will check back when we actually ride with them and give more feedback.

I bought 2 of them, one for the left, one for the right, swayed by the positive reviews here. The claim is that they are especially easy to mount-- I don't see what's so easy-- you need a screwdriver (and not any screwdriver-- I tried 5 before I found one narrow enough, and that one kept slipping out of the groove) (I would have preferred a wingnut) and the circular plastic device slips off the end of the handlebar unless the screw is very very tight. As for the idea that you can 'mount them anywhere" well, you can, but that doesn't mean that you can use them to see traffic if you mount them "anywhere"-- although they twist around, in the most ideal spot to mount them, for example, I had a great view of my elbow, which I had to lift out to the side in order to peek behind me. Actually, there is only one place I can mount them on my bike that lets me see what is behind me, and that is on the outer edge of the handlebars-- but not too far to the edge (did I mention they fall offω)-- so that barely leaves enough room for my hand between the mirror and the gear shift. I am not very fussy-- I have had perfectly good mirrors, which were stolen along with the bikes they were attached to. I'm sorry I spent the $$ on these instead of looking for one just like one of those.

I purchsed this mirror for my touring bike. I have the butterfly handlebars and this is the only mirror that I could find that would work. The mirror has worked great and provides me with a wide view. I would definitely purchase this product again. I have been very pleased with all of the Ortlieb products that I have purchased.

Impossible to tell how far behind you overtaking traffic actually is, plus distance field is limited. It would be a fine mirror if the glass was flat, not convex. I would rather have clarity than wide angle. Very nice mounting system.

Now that I've had it for a while and got to use it a lot...it works great. I'm thinking about maybe getting two more of them just in case I break the one I have now. I was not sure how good they were going to be but now I would not use anything else, they really do help out a lot. Very easy to setup on your handlebar.

Turned out to not be the mirror for me, just couldn't find a placement on my touring drop bars that works. Whatever I could see required too much head movement downwards and had too much vibration. Went with a little mirror that clips onto my helmet, was a much better fit for me. No head movement, less vibration, good visibility. (Also really easy to knock off or knock out of adjustment. Can't win 'em all I guess.)

I like this mirror very much. Solid construction, wide angled mirror let you see more. On drop bars though.. you have to place the mirror at just the right spot so it doesn't interfere with your hands.. This is the only reason I've given 4. If you have risers, albatross, and any other flat-ish bars, it deserves 5 without a doubt. :)

I was a bit disappointed the mounting arm of the item was not like the one pictured on the box. It couldn't be mounted and oriented the way I wanted. It is in a compromised and awkward position, but at least it is capable of reflection.

I installed this mirror on drop bars on my Surly LHT and turned it vertical. This works great for seeing both near and far oncoming traffic. The field of view is great and the attachment mechanism is forgiving of bumps, providing good adjustment range. It's great, thanks.

The mirrors are great, view is very good, install is very easy, on old uneven rural roads there is a little vibration to the mirror that distorts the view, but on those roads, traffic is a car every 20 30 minutes, plus the locals are used to my flashing red lights and are very patience and polite.

while not as good, nor unfortunately do I think there is anything out there that will be, as my old Mirrycle, which I had to remove when new brake handles were installed, this mirro is an excellent replacement. Yeah its not as cool looking as those that go on the end of the handlebar, but I feel a lot more comfortable with my view than I do with those. I ride a great variety of streets, from rural to city, & this provides a good view for both. Cars do seem a little distant at first, but I got used to it. There is also a tiny bit of vibration, really only on bumpy or rough road, but nothing that I find disturbing. I would definitely recommend it, if you aren't concerned about looks. I'll take safety & performance over looks any day.

I recently used the Ortlieb Ultralite Bike mirror on a 900 mile ride, 11 consecutive days of riding. It actually fell off my handlebar once going over a bumpy bridge, and when I went to tighten it again on the handlebar, it was already as tight as it would go. I was riding, didn't have a shim with me, and once it hit the pavement, it developed an annoying rattle. I shimmed it at the end of the day, but now, from the ball joint, it seems to wiggle lose on bumpier roads that I commute on.

My touring bike has bar-end shifters on the drop handlebars, making it impossible to use the unobtrusive Sprintech mirrors that fit into the bar ends that I use on other drop-handlebarroad bikes. I've tried a number of mirrors that have various clamping mechanisms to attach to the handlebars, but they all are prone to wiggling around, vibrating too much to give a useful view, or breaking if the bike leans up against something. The Ortlieb Ultralite can fit anywhere on your bike -- frame, fork or handlebar. The clamp is secure and the unique attachment makes the mirror both easy to adjust and stable enough to stay aligned even when riding over the roughest roads. The shape of the mirror gives a complete panoramic view of the road behind. If the bike bangs up against something, the mirror simply folds over to the side. On my recent Ottawa-Toronto tour, these proved invaluable, especially on busy, no-shoulder roads. Quite simply the best clamp-on bicycle mirror out there.

This is the best mirror I have owned. My girlfriend and I use it on our touring bikes with drop down handlebars. It rarely shifts position, easy to adjust, is out of the way, and field of vision is superb. Riding in Florida a must. Strongly recommended!!!

Using it on a touring bike with drop bars. Only product I have found that works on these bars. I have mounted close to the end, just in front of bar end shifter. I can still use drops comfortably and mirror is not in way. It could have had a slightly longer stem - when hands on bars on top - arm blocks visibility slightly - not too bad but.. Good value for price.

I bought this for my Novara Randonee touring bike. The attachment device was versatile enough that I mounted it on my handlebars near the brake levers, sticking out to the side. By inserting a very small bit of cut and rolled up bike tube material between the handlebars and the mount, it stays in place and the vibration is really dampened. Was skeptical at first, but I have come to really appreciate and like this mirror.
