These pants kept exterior water from intruding during strong downpours over a two-hour ride. They also created a significant amount of moisture inside (from sweat). Moisture was running down the interior legs and on to my feet when I released the cuffs. They were advertised as "water proof" and were, but don't expect to stay dry; you will still end your ride soaked from the inside.

I am heading back to sun from southern patagonia. I used the showers pass for a lot of different things from camping in the rain, to riding in the rain down 1200km of dirt. For the price they perform as expected, they block the wind and rain. They are not thick but if you know how to layer that is not an issue.
