Just received it. My head size is 6 7/8 and it fits well. I like the adjustable strap, the construction is well made, the look is good without being gaudy, it fits well under my gravel helmet, I like the bigger brim but would also like one with a smaller brim for my MTB helmet. The neck flaps cover my ears and neck so I don't need suntan lotion in those area to collect gravel dust. The flaps are also thin enough to tuck up under the hat when not necessary. I plan on purchasing a second one.
Too small

I received this cap this week. I took it on a 20 mile ride today. The temperature was about 90 degrees (F). The humidity was low by US mid-Atlantic standards. The adjuster barrel was set at the as loose as possible. The chief issue that I have with this cap is that it is too small for my size large head. If your head is extra large then do not consider buying this cap. It's a bit uncomfortable. It leaves a mark across my forehead. Other wise, I really like it. My ears and neck were well covered and the big brim kept my eyes shaded. It seems to breath well. If it was a wee bit larger I would rate it at 5.

I ordered two intending one to be a gift to someone else. This 2022 version has an elastic cord and a cord lock to adjust the fit, but the cord lock is mismatched with the cord and the cord readily slips. This can be viewed on the Headsweats site ProTech page. I returned one, but the other fit well without tensioning the elastic cord so I cut the elastic, removed the lock and resewed a shortened piece of elastic. This provides a place to attach to a clip, for instance on a pack, when not wearing as well as a bit of tension. I also find that I can stow the flaps inside the cap when I want a no-flap look. I found it to be a great cap on a Utah desert backpacking trip.

I purchased 3 of these to alternate on rides, and rarely ride without one. I've been using them for more than 3 years, and they've survived repeated washings with only some fading of the brand logo. They do a great job of keeping the sun off my neck and face -- I always wear one under my helmet, which has little or no brim.

I've been trying to be more cafeful about sun exposure, so this cycling cap that keeps the sun off ears and necks is great. Other colors should be considered because 1) dirt and 2) sweat. Grey would be nice. I like that the cap is adjustable with the elastic pull, and I like the broad bill of the hat. It was comfortable, and coupled with a buff my neck didn't get roasted.

I hope this will work for me. I have a medium head, but this cap fits loosely. One-size doesn't work when the size is large. I like the flaps and will try to take in the sides. I hope it works as I will be crossing the desert in a few weeks.

I really like this cap but feel the neck cover needs to be another 4-6" longer. There is a gap between the bottom of the neck cover and my jersey and I get sunburned if I don't add a buff or something to this area.

...for a few reasons...
- long enough bill to ride into the sunset
- thin and wicks sweat wonderfully
- soakable! You can wet it to increase the evaporative power and easily chill your head on a really hot ride
- the neck cape stays closer for better sun or cooling properties than big flappy neck capes
- yeah the adjustable bungee clip doesn't work too well, but that's not a make or break issue for me

Would be 5 Star ++ except the slide adjuster doesn't work...exactly as stated above "one size fits none". Doesn't matter though if under a helmet. Is perfect for under helmet. Dorky? Nah, you should see my nose coat/sun shade that clips to my glasses. Will keep this hat for sure but the slide adjuster problem does need to be fixed.

The design and material of the cap are super but the slide adjuster on the cap I received doesn't secure the shock cord making the cap "one size fits none". Had to "custom fit" the cap by noting the shock cord to hold the size in place. May just be a one-off and everything else is of high quality and superior design. I won't return the item. I'll just look for a new slide adjuster.

On really hot days, dunk it in a stream and let the water evaporate to keep you even cooler. It's white, so it gets dirty pretty quickly, but it seems to clean up well in a sink with a little soap. I have to agree with the dorkiness comment; I quickly learned to take it off in photos.

With this cap sunscreen is unnecessary on my face neck and ears and nose, so that is a great positive. The only negative I am dealing with is that the bill is too low in front beneath the helmet that it makes it hard for me to get my helmet mounted rearview mirror hard to adjust, so that the bill is not in the way.

The weight and feel of this cap are excellent, but the draping fabric covers only the back of the neck, and is not sufficient to also provide protection for the sides. It does not do a better job of keeping the sun off than just a simple bandana tucked under your helmet. The "geek" factor of such an outfit is high, but this cap's high tech approach was not much better looking, and did not provide adequate sun protection for those that need greater coverage.

As a 65 year old touring rider and lifelong outdoor enthusiast I've unfortunately had too much exposure to the sun. Several reminders of past sun damage have been removed from my ears and now, even though it is late, I'm much more aware and careful. The Protech Cap did a great job of shielding my ears from the sun on the 1900 miles that I rode on the Pacific Coast Highway tour that I finished in November 2011. The only issue that I identified is that my head seemed a little warmer than it might be if the material of the crown of the hat was a little thinner. It might also have been a little more comfortable under my helmet with slightly thinner material. I wore it all but several rain days so these questions did not reduce its usefulness. I will also wear it for longer rides in my hometown of Memphis in the Summer. Jim
