I am new to liners or padded shorts (I normally ride a recumbent), but they seemed to work well on a 20 mile ride. I tour with zip-off pants, so I wanted something for underneath. (I will be taking a tour next year on a diamond frame bike.)

I am 6'4", 200 lbs., and wear pants with a 35 inch waist. I bought a size Large of these liners, and the fit is great. The underwear has a very comfortable, silky feel. The gel pad is small- if you put it on the saddle (I have a Fabric saddle and a Brooks) the saddle extends about a half inch past the pad. This means there is only pad where you need it, which means that the pad feels as little like a diaper as it can while still doing the job. Being long legged, I would like an inseam about four inches longer, but that is a minor point compared with the fit and comfort you get- my most egregious test has been 20 miles in Levi's- no chafing, which is not the case with cotton boxers under the jeans!

For those of us with an aversion to short pants this liner is ideal. It alleviates saddle sores and really makes for a comfortable ride. I highly recommend them. Just be aware that due to the gel insert this liner must be washed in cold water gentle cycle.

Purchased a pair of these for me and my teenage son. Wore them under regular (i.e. non-cycling/non-padded) shorts on a seven hour day ride. They felt great and worked as well as conventional chamois shorts. Would reocommend for bike travel or commuting, where you want to wear mainly regular clothes and be able to change-out bike-specific items quickly.
