Advocacy Alerts & Letters

ADVOCACY ALERTS

Issues sometimes arise that impact the Adventure Cycling Route Network, the U.S. Bicycle Route System, or bicycle travel conditions at a significant scale. During these times, we may call upon our membership, the greater bicycling community, and the public to weigh in on the issue. This may mean asking for direct action, such as writing an email, making a phone call to a political office, or drafting comments for a federal or local agencies' management plan. Your voice counts and strengthens our efforts.

Email advocacy@adventurecycling.org to be added to our advocacy alert emails.

LETTERS OF SUPPORT & CONCERN

We support local efforts that improve bicycle travel conditions: trail development, bike lanes, bike share systems, shoulder widening, transit integration, bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, the development of bicycle tourism studies, and more. We are happy to write letters of support/concern for grants or to government officials, especially for efforts that improve bicycle travel conditions and opportunities/issues that affect the Adventure Cycling Route Network, the U.S. Bicycle Route System, or impact bicycle tourism.

Please email your request to advocacy@adventurecycling.org and provide a template letter detailing:

  • Background on the issue or project’s scope
  • How it is related to bicycle travel
  • Who to address the letter to and their contact information
  • Deadline for submission
  • How the letter should be delivered (email or mail)
